My vibrant Herbed Yogurt Dressing comes together quickly and is packed with flavor. I use a plain Greek yogurt base and then add in fresh herbs, like parsley, cilantro, and mint. This homemade dressing can be stored in the refrigerator for about one week and goes great on salads, wraps, pasta, sandwiches, with veggies, and so much more.
I originally made this Herbed Yogurt Dressing specifically to add to a hummus wrap (that will be coming soon!), but it turned out so good that I decided I had to give it its own post. I know we’re officially in autumn now, and this recipe might seem a little more summery, but I promise it will give a bright, flavorful kick to everything you make this season. Aside from being used in wraps, it can also be enjoyed as a dip for veggies, a dressing for salads, or even a sauce for pasta. You can use your favorite fresh herbs in this creamy, nutrient-rich dressing recipe.
Why You’ll Love
- Easy to make – The blender does most of the work in this easy dressing recipe. Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until a creamy dressing is formed. This dressing is great to have on hand throughout the week if anything needs some extra flavor.
- Packed with flavor – Each ingredient in this recipe brings its own great flavor, including lemon, vinegar, green onion, parsley, and cilantro. They are all pretty strong in flavor by themselves, but they blend well with the Greek yogurt. I like to add a little bit of maple syrup to take the edge off.
- Great for lots of things – I originally made this herby dressing to add some extra flavor to a hummus wrap (recipe coming soon). Still, it also works as a salad dressing, pasta salad dressing, spread for wraps and sandwiches, or even a sauce for proteins like tofu or chicken (if not vegetarian).
Why Your Body Will Love This Herby Dressing
Herbs are very potent and have been used for centuries in healing capacities. Each herb is unique and has its own health benefits. Garlic, turmeric, oregano, and sage are all great for boosting the immune system, while ginger, peppermint, parsley, and basil aid in digestion. The benefits of herbs can be enjoyed through adding fresh herbs to your recipes, like in this herb-packed dressing, or using dried herbs.
Plain, non-fat Greek yogurt is also packed with health benefits. It’s high in calcium, protein, vitamin B, and zinc. It helps fill you up and keep you feeling full for a long time. It also contains probiotics, which help maintain a healthy gut. Greek yogurt, specifically, is low in cholesterol and saturated fat, making it a great way to get your dairy in.
Herbed Yogurt Dressing Recipe Ingredients
- Yogurt – I used plain, non-fat Greek yogurt for this dressing, but regular plain yogurt will also work. Just use your favorite kind. Regular yogurt is not as thick as Greek yogurt, so if you’re using regular yogurt, you might want to reduce some of the liquid added. Non-dairy, plain yogurt can also be used.
- Olive Oil – Extra virgin olive oil adds a lovely richness to the dressing, while also helping to thin it out. If you want a thicker dressing, you can leave out the olive oil or only add a little bit.
- Lemon Juice – Lemon juice is fresh, tart, and goes well with fresh herbs. I add the juice to this recipe, but the zest can also be added for an extra lemony zing.
- White Vinegar – I like the combination of lemon juice and vinegar in dressing recipes. It is also zingy, but in a different way than lemon juice. Any vinegar can be added, although I wouldn’t recommend using balsamic.
- Garlic – I add one large clove of fresh garlic because I love the taste. If you don’t want such a strong garlic flavor, you can use garlic powder instead.
- Maple Syrup – Pure maple syrup adds a sweetness that helps to balance out all the other intense flavors. Honey can also be used.
- Fresh Herbs – I used a mixture of fresh cilantro, parsley, mint, and green onion. You can choose any combination of herbs you like. Dill, basil, and tarragon are nice additions.
- Salt + Pepper
