If you love starting your day with a nutrient packed breakfast, my Creamy Mango White Bean Smoothies are for you. They take less than 10 minutes to prepare and they happen to be packed with tons of protein and fiber. Get one serving of beans in before you even leave the house with these hearty smoothies.

I know adding beans into a smoothie might seem strange for some, but if you think about it, it’s not much different than adding in a few scoops of protein powder. White beans are naturally packed with protein and fiber and they are great for digestive health, heart health and weight management. Adding beans to your breakfast routine is a great way to start the day and they blend really well into this creamy mango smoothie. I hope you enjoy and let me know if you try adding beans into your smoothies!
Why You’ll Love This Hearty Smoothie Recipe
- Easy to make – I love smoothies for breakfast because they’re so quick and easy to make. All you have to do is add the ingredients into the blender and then blend until smooth, 30-60 seconds. Use frozen fruit and you won’t even have to spend time washing and preparing it before adding it in.
- Packed with protein – There are a few sources of protein in these smoothies. The white beans add almost 10 grams of plant based protein and the greek yogurt adds an additional 10-12 grams. Use a high protein milk and you’re at almost 28 grams of protein before even leaving the house.
- Refreshing and creamy– The mango, yogurt and white beans all help to make these smoothies ultra creamy. I highly recommend using frozen fruit to make the smoothie cold and refreshing. You can also add in a handful of ice cubes if you like.

White Bean Smoothie Recipe Tips
- Add protein powder – If you want to boost the protein content of this smoothie even more, you can easily add in a scoop, or two, of your favorite protein powder. You may need to adjust the amount of liquid, if adding protein powder.
- Other add-ins – Aside from protein powder, I also like to add in other ingredients that help boost the nutritional value. This includes: flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp hearts, beet juice, cinnamon, turmeric, psyllium husk powder or nut butters.
- Use different fruit – I used mango because that is what I had on hand, and I like how it makes the smoothie extra creamy, but feel free to use any type of fruit, fresh or frozen. You can also mix different fruits together for a more tropical vibe.

Creamy Mango Smoothie Recipe Ingredients
- White Beans – I used cannellini beans because I find them to be the creamiest of all white beans, but any type of white beans will work, including: navy beans, butter beans, great northern beans or even chickpeas.
- Mango – I used frozen mango, because it’s usually easy to find at the grocery store and it makes the smoothie nice and creamy, but fresh mango can also be used.
- Greek Yogurt – I like adding plain, non-fat, greek yogurt to my smoothies because it makes them creamy while also adding protein and calcium. You can use a non-dairy yogurt or even substitute with a large banana if you’re not feeling the yogurt.
- Milk – I used a plain flavored plant based milk for this smoothie, but regular milk can be substituted. You can also use water or juice if you prefer.
- Maple Syrup – I usually use pure maple syrup as a sweetener to my smoothies, but you can also use honey, agave syrup or even 1-2 pitted dates.
- Optional Ingredients – I also like to add a pinch of ground cinnamon, which helps with sweetness, as well as some turmeric (powder or fresh). Cinnamon is a great source of antioxidants, while turmeric helps reduce inflammation and also gives the smoothie a more yellow color.

How To Make White Bean Mango Smoothies
- Add all the smoothie ingredients into a blender and turn on low speed. Slowly turn up the speed, until it’s on full speed.
- Blend smoothie until completely smooth, about 1-2 minutes, and add in extra liquid if needed.
- Give the smoothie a taste and add extra sweetener if needed. Mango smoothies are best when enjoyed immediately. They can be stored in the refrigerator, until ready to drink, but the texture will be a little bit different.

Recipe Frequently Asked Questions
- This recipe is gluten free.
- Make this recipe vegan by using a non-dairy yogurt and milk substitute.
- What kind of white beans are best to use in a smoothie? I use cannelloni beans because I find them to be the smoothest, but any type of white bean will work.
- Does the smoothie have a grainy texture? I try to blend up my white bean smoothies as much as I can, but you may find that the smoothie has a slightly grainy texture, similar to adding protein powder, which I don’t mind.
- Can other fruit be added? Yes, you can easily substitute the mango with a different fruit of choice.
- Does the fruit need to be frozen? No, it doesn’t need to be frozen. I prefer using frozen fruit because it makes the smoothie cold, while also giving it a creamy texture, but fresh fruit can be used as well. If not using frozen fruit, you can add in a handful of ice cubes if you want your smoothie cold.
- How long do leftover smoothies last? If stored in an air-tight container, in the refrigerator, leftovers should last about 3 days. However, I do recommend drinking the smoothie right after making it for best taste and texture.

Adding white beans is an interesting idea! Thanks!
I promise it’s good! The mango masks the taste of the white beans and if anything, the texture is slightly like if you had put protein powder in.
