These Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Tahini Maple Butter will melt in your mouth and are perfect for a delicious vegan side dish.
Thanksgiving week is finally here, and I have one last recipe to share! These Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Tahini Maple Butter might be my favorite side dish yet.
I originally made this tahini maple butter a few months ago, and I’m really not sure why it’s taken me so long to share the recipe with you. It’s one of the most delicious things I’ve ever tasted, seriously. 🙂 It’s more like a caramel sauce than a butter because it’s thick and amazing, but it’s not what I would call a traditional caramel.
Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Tahini Maple Butter Recipe Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes – I used two medium sweet potatoes that I cut into 3/4 inch slices.
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pure maple syrup
- Butter – If you’re not making this recipe vegan, regular butter works, of course, too.
- Tahini
- Garnish – Fresh thyme leaves and flaky sea salt, if desired.
Why Your Body Will Love These Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Heart Health – The potassium and magnesium in sweet potatoes help reduce blood pressure and stroke risks and can help lower cholesterol. They’re high in antioxidants and Vitamin A, which supports both the immune system and eye health.
Immune Health – Sweet potatoes contain a good amount of Vitamin A, which helps the body fight infections and keeps the immune system healthy. Alongside Vitamin A, sweet potatoes contain beta-carotene and carotenoids to protect our eyes and muscles.
Beta Carotene – I love super orange sweet potatoes. I wonder if that’s partly because my body is craving beta carotene, which is found in orange sweet potatoes and converts to vitamin A inside the body. Also known as retinol or retinoic acid, vitamin A plays an essential role in the body, from immune support to skin to vision to reproductive health.
How To Make These Maple Tahini Roasted Sweet Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Place the sliced sweet potatoes in a large baking dish, rub each side with oil, and sprinkle with salt. Bake the sweet potatoes until cooked through and starting to caramelize, 45-50 mins, flipping once.
- Add the maple syrup, butter, tahini, and a pinch of salt to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until combined and creamy. You can also heat it in the microwave.
- When ready to serve, top each sweet potato with the desired amount of tahini maple butter, fresh thyme, and sea salt.
Recipe Tips and Thoughts
- It’s no secret I love sweet potatoes, so I wanted to give you a really decadent sweet potato side dish for the holidays, and I’m pretty sure these Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Tahini Maple Butter are just that.
- The sweet potatoes are roasted until caramelized and soft, then they are topped with this creamy, slightly sweet, and slightly nutty sauce. Seriously, I can’t tell you enough how amazing this sauce is. I also topped mine with a bit of fresh thyme and some flaky sea salt to make them even more special 🙂
- This recipe is vegan and gluten-free.
- Store the sweet potatoes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days and reheat in the oven or microwave.

Can you make the tahini sauce ahead of time and store in fridge and re heat when ready to serve
Yes!
Did you bake these on parchment paper or foil?? I am afraid they will stick to the pan.
Hi Melissa, Yes, I baked them on a non-stick mat 🙂 Parchment paper would work too!
I love sweet potatoes and anything with tahini – the combo of the two is great! This looks so delicious and easy!
Thanks, Ashley! Me too!!
These little caramelized sweet potatoes are so pretty… and I can just imagine that creamy, sweet tahini butter! I swear tahini’s versatility rivals that of cashews… it’s amazing! All my best to you and your’s Izzy, for a beautiful holiday ! xo
